People Care: Civic Society, Democracy, Diaspora & Youth Engagement

This work is both a map and an invitation—for those working across borders and sectors to design with purpose, lead with humility, and act with impact.

In an era defined by uncertainty, conflict, and rapid transformation, the ability to co-create resilient, democratic, and inclusive systems has never been more urgent. I'm exploring the intersection of peacebuilding, democratic innovation, and public leadership through a systems lens—anchored in real-world practice and emerging theory.

The focus is on key themes: impact measurement, diaspora engagement, migration, peer-to-peer education, and fundraising for the public sector. Drawing from experiences in facilitation, conflict resolution, and strategic design, we examine how enabling frameworks and emergent strategies can empower communities, institutions, and networks to navigate complexity and build sustainable futures.

Initiatives

Support Ukraine Now (SUN)

At Support Ukraine Now (SUN), we are a community of Ukrainian and international activists. Our mission is to engage the network of leaders in supporting Ukraine. We work on providing the most effective help to Ukraine, in immediate response and rebuilding, by enabling foreigners (individuals and organizations) to help.

Scenarios: Ukraine 2040

In 2022–2023, I had the honour of contributing as an expert to a large-scale foresight study called "Scenarios: Ukraine 2040", conducted in collaboration with Ukrainian parliamentarians, international partners, and experts from Oxford, the EU, and UNDP. It was a deep exploration of Ukraine's post-war future — taking into account global challenges, scenario modelling, and hundreds of signals of change.

Leader's Fund

As the war in Ukraine continues, many inspiring young Ukrainians are not only surviving — they're leading. We've launched powerful grassroots initiatives in health, education, youth employment, inclusion, and rebuilding local communities. The SUN Leaders Program supports young changemakers, giving them the mentorship, funding, and space to focus on what matters most — rebuilding and transforming Ukraine from the ground up.

We're now raising funds for their scholarships. Let's help them grow their impact where it's needed most.

Youth of Ukraine – NOW WHAT?

In times of war and uncertainty, young people in Ukraine continue to rise as leaders, creators, and changemakers. But what's next for this generation — and how do we prepare for the future? Over two months, more than 330 participants joined the online (un)conference "Youth of Ukraine – NOW WHAT?" to explore the challenges, visions, and opportunities that lie ahead.

This report captures the insights, energy, and practical outcomes from 30+ sessions on democracy, defense, Web3, mental health, culture, and beyond — all part of the SUN youth leadership program supported by the European Endowment for Democracy.

SUNconference: Social Economy for Ukraine

What does a resilient, people-centered economy look like for Ukraine's future?

In May 2023, over 40 social entrepreneurs, activists, policymakers, and foundation leaders came together for the SUNconference: Social Economy for Ukraine — a week-long open-format online event exploring how social innovation, Web3, AI, and mental health intersect with Ukraine's post-war recovery.

Co-created by participants and facilitated through a dynamic unconference format, this event focused on turning ideas into action — from labor market reintegration to mental health support, from platforms for social entrepreneurs to tools for international cooperation.

Migration Research Report

In response to one of the largest forced migrations in Europe's recent history, this report explores the realities faced by Ukrainian refugees — mostly women and children — and outlines practical pathways to economic resilience.

Conducted by the Future of Work initiative within the SUN ecosystem, the study identifies three urgent areas: migration policy under stress, the rise of a mobile economy, and mental health in the face of war fatigue. Through environmental scanning, interviews, and collaborative research, the report surfaces challenges, gaps, and opportunities across the labor market — from flexible work models to diaspora networks and upskilling initiatives.

Communities

Global Shapers Kyiv Hub

We believe in a world where young people are central to solution building, policy-making and lasting change. Our generation has inherited enormous global challenges, but by amplifying the voice of young people and self-organizing for impact, we believe that we can overcome inter-generational inequity and shape a better future for all.

In the face of a global pandemic, the Global Shapers Kyiv Hub focused not on scaling projects, but strengthening bonds. This report shares the lessons and wins from the 2020–2021 term — from deep interviews and strategy sessions to a new community charter, cross-hub retreats, and youth-focused initiatives. It's a story about shifting from pressure to trust, from burnout to buddy systems, and from chaos to clarity. Here's my Curator's Report from 2021.

Impact UA

Impact UA ecosystem arose in response to the coronavirus epidemic in Ukraine with the project #stopcovidua. We bring together professionals from a variety of fields, government organizations, NGOs and businesses to fight crises and achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. We create effective coordination between NGOs, the government and activists through an open organization where everyone can join and contribute.

Methods: foresight, OKR methodology, cultural programs & leadership development, community audits. Strategic support: Dila Foundation.

Metaspilnota

MetaSpilnota fosters a culture of community, promotes the profession of community manager, and creates opportunities for learning, collaboration, and positive societal change. We unite, support, and develop community managers in Ukraine by creating an environment where communities become drivers of change and the profession is respected and in demand.
